About Smart Fit Golf

Built by a Fitter.
For Every Golfer.

Getting fitted for a driver used to mean booking an appointment, standing on a range with a launch monitor, and spending an hour with a pro. Most golfers never do it. Not because they don't care, but because the barrier is too high for what should be a straightforward purchase.

Why I Built This

I'm a certified club fitter, and I'm also a dad of four. I know what it's like to want better equipment without the time or budget to sit through a full fitting session before you've even decided which driver to buy. Most golfers are in the same position. They do their research, read some reviews, and still end up guessing at the checkout.

That gap between professional fitting knowledge and what the average golfer actually has access to is what Smart Fit Golf exists to close. I took the same questions I ask during a real fitting (swing speed, miss tendency, shaft preference, budget) and turned them into a free tool that gives you a real, personalised recommendation in under two minutes.

It won't replace a full session on a Trackman. But for the vast majority of golfers buying a new driver, it gets you to the right answer without the appointment.

How We Test and Review

Every driver and ball recommendation on this site is grounded in real data and real on-course experience. Here's exactly how we arrive at our conclusions.

Professional Launch Monitor Data

We use launch monitor testing to measure ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and carry distance across different swing speeds and strike locations. Numbers don't lie, and they frequently contradict what the marketing says.

Wide Range of Players

We test across a genuine range of player ages, handicaps, and swing speeds: from seniors with 70 mph swings to competitive amateurs hitting 105+. A driver that works for a 5-handicap doesn't necessarily work for a 22.

On-Course Play

Range data only tells part of the story. We take clubs onto the course to evaluate real-world performance under pressure: tight driving holes, windy conditions, and those days when your swing isn't quite right.

Manufacturer Specifications

We verify head design, CG placement, MOI ratings, shaft specs, and face technology claims against published manufacturer data. We flag it when the marketing doesn't match what we actually measure.

Editorial Independence

Smart Fit Golf earns revenue through affiliate links. When you buy a driver through one of our recommendations, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's how the lights stay on.

What it does not do is influence our recommendations. We do not accept payment for product placement, sponsored rankings, or positive reviews. Every pick on this site is what we'd actually recommend to a friend walking into a golf shop.

If you ever disagree with a recommendation or think we've got something wrong, I genuinely want to hear about it. The goal is to give golfers better information than they'd get anywhere else, and that only happens if the analysis is honest.
